The Quest for the Crystal Sword
Is she okay? you hear Geoff anxiously ask. You blush to yourself, fully aware that Geoff has had a crush on you for quiet some time.
Yes and no, John replies slowly. She has a rather bad concussion. I didnt tell her it was as bad as it is because I dont want her to worry, but it will definitely hinder her for quiet a while.
I see, Geoff mulls over your condition. After a moment he asks, And are you okay? You took a pretty hard fall too.
Im fine, John answers. You can hear the truth in his voice. No breaks, no sprains, not even a bad cut- no the only evidence I have of our fall is a few scattered bruises and a scratch here and there.
By the way Geoff says his next statement you can tell hes smiling, And I spose your head is fine. Heaven knows you have the hardest one around.
John chuckles softly. After a few moments of comfortable silence he asks, So what should we do now?
Well she cant move much for at least a few days so we arent going anywhere for a while. You will probably be good as new in a day, hmm?
Yes
Ok, well I can do the hunting, firewood gathering, etcetera while you two are down there. Once you are feeling better you could probably make the climb out of there. Whoever built this didnt do a very good job at ensuring that the victim stays captive.
John however argues, They probably expect the person to not be as lucky as me and land on moss, but rather solid rock.
True, Geoff agrees. Anyways, I think we should see how fast she recovers and then make our plans from there.
Agreed, John says. I think we should turn in now. Things will look brighter in the morning.
You hear John climbing down back towards his bedroll and try and make yourself look like you were asleep. Apparently its not enough to fool John. When he gets down to the bottom of the pit he walks over to you. Did you hear everything? he asks.
Mhmm, you sheepishly admit.
In the moonlight you can see John shake his head, a smile across his face. Good, he says. Thats all the less information we have to relay in the morning.
