You make your way to the ruins. Everyone in the village claims they’re haunted, but it seems like if they really were, zombies and ghost would’ve been pouring out of them and destroyed the village by now. As far as you know, nobody has ever explored them, so you have no idea what the place was at one time. There probably isn’t anything too bad there, maybe just some giant rats, and maybe a big spider lurking about, but nothing too serious, and nothing you probably can’t handle.
When you get to the ruins, you feel like a real adventurer for the first time! You search around, but you don’t find anything. Actually there isn’t much to search, it’s just a bunch of old crumbling buildings really. Anything that could be living here wouldn’t be able to hide since everything is pretty much out in the open. Now you’re a little disappointed.
You’re just about to leave, when you notice a trapdoor in the stone floor! So the real ruins are beneath! There’s no way you’re going to turn back now, you open the door and descend into the darkness.
Unfortunately there isn’t any light down here and you can only see what’s immediately in front of you and even then just barely, due to this fact you’ll have difficulty fighting anything you might run into down here. -2 to your attack score for all fights while down here.
If you have a lantern you may proceed as normal, if you’re a Wizard you may cast a Light spell and also proceed as normal.
With or without any light, you eventually reach a split in the corridor; you can go left or right.
