You start up the long, winding stairwell, and it's not long before the top of the stairwell opens out flush into a great hall. The hall is empty: which is a relief to you, after battling the two dog-beasts earlier. You glance around the room to find crimson tapestries hung between each arrow-slit window on either side of the hall. Although the hall could easily accomodate 20 more just like it, there is a single, long wooden table in the midst of the place. Given a closer look, the table also has a place set at it in the center, with a sumptuous-looking meal consisting of a large mutton chop, some hearty potatoes, an ear of corn with a melting pat of butter on it, and an iron mug full to the brim with what appears to be pure nectar-juice. At one end of the hall, there is a grand fireplace, with a roaring fire in it, the sweet-smelling cedar cracking and popping as it burns.
At the other end of the hall are two exits, one to the north and one to the south. It is then that you notice the stairwell that was flush with the floor is missing! Reaching for the talisman, you find that it as well is gone! Perhaps you dropped it on the way up, but you sincerely doubt you would be that clumsy. This place gives you the creeps and you can't wait to get out...
...then again, you are really hungry. What will you do?
