War of the Gods R

The male choice is Akaihane, a peaceful but tragic wanderer. Here is a summary of his past up to where this story begins:

Akaihane's father was a human warrior named Yaro, and his mother was a Feng Ji (phoenix race) of the Li tribe.

Xefir left her tribe to live with Yaro, and soon became pregnant with Akaihane. However, before he was born, Yaro was killed by a dragon, and since reviving someone killed by a dragon was not in a phoenix's powers, nothing could be done to save him.

After her husband's death, Xefir moved back to live with her tribe, and gave birth to Akaihane, who she named 'ShemAril' - in the Feng Shi tongue, it meant red feather. However, when Akaihane was three years old, dark wizards started hunting phoenixes to capture them and abuse their powers of revival. Many Feng Ji were killed as they tried to protect their allies, the phoenixes, and Xefir was captured and taken away. For many years, her whereabouts was unknown, but she was presumed dead. Akaihane was raised as an orphan by the remains of the Li tribe. His Menji (guardian and Master), TeshRywil, was the closest he had to a father.

Akaihane received his spirit sword at ten years old, and was trained in swordmanship and sorcery by his Menji. He soon mastered all the spells, even the Hane no Arashi. Tesh kept a close eye on Akaihane, sensing the immense spiritual powers in him, and was afraid that he might feel vengeful about losing his parents. However, Akaihane never misused his powers, and appeared calm in most situations.

When Akaihane turned fourteen, Tesh had taught him everything that he knew. Even though the training usually ended at fifteen, Akaihane insisted on leaving the tribe, with the secret hope of finding his mother. The elders advised him to reconsider, but did not prevent him from leaving. Since Akaihane left before his training was completed, he became what was known as a 'fledgling' warrior. Though they have the same status as a full-grown warrior, fledgling warriors *do* have a reputation for being impatient and troublemakers, even while being respected for their high spirit and tendency to be quick learners.

After three years of travelling the country, Akaihane arrived at the Yilem tribe, where he found love - SalwiThalil, a phoenix-elf halfbreed and a white phoenix.

The love between the two was true and intense, but after barely a year, the war erupted once again. Shem and Salwi fought side-by-side against a dark wizard known as IwothOhril, who was a servant of the god Evil. The battle lasted for a long time, and it looked like they might win, but then realised that Ohril had merely been toying with them. He trapped Salwi with a death spell, and then killed her. Her last words were a wish for Akaihane to live on.

Blinded by tears, Akaihane took phoenix shape to flee in an attempt to fulfil her last wish. Ohril shot him with a cursed arrow, but Akaihane kept flying, not knowing or caring where he was going. When he finally fell, it was in a forest, where he was found by a young elf, Lenri, who cared for him. However, it didn't take long for Ohril to catch up to him, and he captured them both, killing Lenri's father at the same time.

Ohril kept Akaihane as a 'pet', using a spell to trap him in phoenix form. This went on for eleven months, after which Ohril was killed, breaking the spell.

As Akaihane was released from captivity, he lost control, and blindly killed every creature that came in his way of freedom, also getting hold of Ohril's Stone of Power, which further increased his powers. In the chaos, Lenri managed to escape, and she sealed the stone away from Akaihane.

When Akaihane finally came to his senses, he vowed to live the rest of his life helping others to repay his sins, and that was when he took the name Akaihane and became a wanderer.
