War of the Gods
The female choice is Light, the former goddess of Light, or Goodness. Here is a summary of Light's past up until where this story takes place:
After Evil was sealed away, Light retreated to a realm that she shared with her cousin, Life, and, for about a thousand years, they were able to live peacefully.
However, one morning, Light woke up from a prophetic dream that caused her to realise that Evil was beginning to stir, and try to seek a way out of his own realm. Light left her own realm to find a way of defeating him.
In Andria, Light met Kayata, a female warrior who was being targeted by skinners, creatures that belonged to the dark wizards. Light helped her, and the two began travelling together, finally coming into a confrontation in Evil's realm with the dark god.
When they finally managed to escape the dark realm, they were approached by the war god Ryushi, who travelled with them. He and Light eventually fell in love, but it wasn't long before Evil placed a trap, and killed Ryushi. Later, he also targeted Kayata, and had her killed.
By this time, Light really wanted to kill Evil, and attempted to perform a ritual to gain her ultimate form, using eight different spiritual warriors. However, due to events out of her control, one of the warriors, the child Jayran, was taken over by one of Evil's followers. In order to prevent the deaths of his friends, Jayran sacrificed himself, an action which has always haunted Light.
Light was then taken by Evil to his own realm and tortured, but was eventually rescued by the Ancients, mysterious beings who may or may not be the parents of the gods. They persuaded her to allow herself to be reborn as a mortal, thus finally coming to the current incarnation.
Light was born to the elf-human halfbreed, Jorel, and the tree spirit-turned-human Ista. However, the corrupted wizard IwothOhril, now a follower of the god of Evil, killed both Ista and Jorel just after Light's birth, and took Light, even despite the attempt made to disguise her by forcing her into the form of a white cat with blue eyes.
IwothOhril kept Light in a cage for about fourteen years, using her power to fuel many of his spells. However, Light finally broke free, and killed Ohril before escaping, but it didn't occur to her to look for survivors...
Light ran to the academy for magic users in a city, but the god of Evil revived Ohril, and the wizard tracked Light down there, and burned down the whole city, killing most of the people there. Light escaped, but not before being forced into her human form, close in appearance to her natural goddess form.
And this is where we join Light...
