You feel bad about leaving someone who's obviously hurting, but it's not really anything to do with you, and you don't even know if anything that you do or say will work.
You start walking in a different direction, hoping that the woman will be all right. Of course, you feel bad about just leaving her with whatever pain is causing her to want to kill herself. But, even if you went back now, chances are that whatever the woman had decided to do would have happened.
