War of the Gods R

You close your eyes again for a moment. "I'm sorry," you state simply, trying to keep your calm. "I guess I just... Sorry..." You really don't know what to say other than that you're sorry.

Which somehow seems inadequate...

You open your eyes again, and are somewhat relieved to see that the man is still there. He's not really meeting your gaze, simply looking at the ground a moment. "Maybe I do not have the right to stop you," he admits quietly. "But, my Lady, I ask you to reconsider what you are about to do."

You shake your head firmly from side to side. "You don't know why I'm doing this," you tell him. "It would be much better if I was dead!"

"It is never better to be dead," the man insists, slight desperation tinging his tone. "And it does not matter if I do not know your reasons." He starts to reach out to you, but hesitates, and then lowers his hand again. "Please do not throw your life away, my Lady," he pleads. "It is too important."

For a long while, you do and say nothing, fighting a struggle within yourself. The man says and does nothing, apparently waiting for you to make up your mind.

Finally, you storm over to where he threw your sword, and pick it up, slamming it into your belt.

"Are you going to be all right now?" the man asks, looking and sounding almost relieved.

You shrug. "I guess so," you answer. "Seeing as I can't kill myself."

"Good." The man puts his hands together in front of him, and bows politely to you. "I will continue on my way, then."

You hesitate. You have noticed the sword in his belt, and he has the look of a warrior. Maybe he could even protect you, at least until you can remember what you've clearly forgotten?

What are you going to do?
