War of the Gods R

"Well, I wouldn't have attacked you if you had just minded your own business!" you snap, trying not to show how bad you're feeling. At least you only managed to hit him in the side and not anywhere fatal...

The man looks up at you, still holding his side to stop the blood flow. "Maybe I did not have the right to stop you..." he admits.

You flinch. -This is terrible...- you think. Outwardly, you simply shrug. "No, you didn't," you agree. "What was even the point? I mean, I might as well be dead - it's not like I'm doing anyone any good by being alive." -And it's not like anyone would care if I'm dead,- you add silently, feeling an intense sadness stab through your heart.

The man shakes his head. "It is never better to be dead," he insists, slight desperation tinging his tone.

-What would he know?!- you think. -It's not like he's dead!- "You don't even know why I'm doing this!" you snap, your words ending in a catlike hiss.

The man shakes his head. "It does not matter," he answers. He starts to reach out to you, but then hesitates, lowering his hand again. "Please do not throw your life away, my Lady," he pleads. "It is too important."

You hesitate, fighting a struggle deep within your heart, but there's no longer any challenge. Your death isn't going to help any of those who are dead or hurt, this man included. With a sigh, you stalk over to the side of the road where the man threw your sword, and pick it up, pushing it back into your belt.

"Are you going to be all right now?" the man asks, his tone sounding faintly relieved.

You shrug. "I guess so," you answer. "Seeing as I can't actually kill myself."

"Good." The man places his hands together in front of him, and bows politely to you. "I will be on my way, then."

You hesitate. From the sword at his waist and the way he acts, this man is clearly a warrior. Maybe he could even protect you, at least until you find out what's going on?

What are you going to do?
