Frowning slightly to yourself, you turn round to face whoever is approaching you. It doesn't seem to be a threat, but you can't just ignore it. What if there are enemies?

It probably couldn't hurt to at least be on your guard...

To your surprise, you can see a small white cat with blue eyes running towards you. Something must have scared it out of its wits.

To your amazement, as soon as the cat sees you, it ducks round to hide behind you. As a Feng Ji - part phoenix and part human - you have never been very fond of felines, and the feeling is usually mutual. So why would this one have taken a liking to you...?

However, before you can wonder more, your sense shields pick up the approach of skinners - white, humanoid-shaped creatures with poisonous claws and fangs. It doesn't take you long to realise that they are hunting - and their quarry is, more than likely, the little cat sheltering behind you.

Skinners... One of the natural enemies of the Feng Ji race. They never work together unless under the control of dark wizards.

You don't need to know the situation to know that the skinners are the enemies. If they want this cat, whoever it is, they're going to have to go through you.
