War of the Gods R

After thinking for a moment, you decide that there is something that you're rather curious about - mainly, the reason for Akaihane attempting to stop you from killing yourself. You know what he said... But, somehow, there seems to be more to it than that...

So, before you can talk yourself out of it, you ask, "Why did you want to stop me from killing myself?"

Akaihane hesitates a moment, before explaining, "Well, life should really be respected. I do not believe it should be thrown away. Besides, I have seen too much death in the past, and I do not wish to see anymore." He keeps a calm and collected tone as he speaks, but you can tell that he's sad and unwilling to explain himself further.

"Oh..." you say slowly.

Akaihane is silent for a moment, and then turns to you, saying, "I know I do not have the right to ask, but I am sure you understand why I am asking... What made you think you had nothing left to live for? I do not mean to offend you off course, Lady Light, please do not answer if I did," he adds.

You hesitate, closing your eyes a moment, but it would probably be fair to explain, so you do: "I thought that, with me dead, no one else would be hurt. I'd just escaped from the academy, which was destroyed by... a wizard."

Akaihane blinks, looking kind of surprised. "Surely that was not your fault?" he questions carefully. "It was not you who destroyed the academy, so it was not your fault."

"I was there," you reply with a shrug. "If I hadn't been, then he wouldn't have tracked me there. He was after me."

"I see," Akaihane mumbles, falling silent.

You're eager to change the subject, but what are you going to say?
