War of the Gods
"We should probably keep moving," you comment, your tone flat and emotionless. You're really not trying to take things out on Kayata - it's just that you're really not feeling particularly cheerful right now.
In any case, Kayata probably understands...
You turn away from your friend to look at the path ahead of you, wondering idly where it leads to. Probably a town - that's where most of the paths you follow tend to lead to, after all. It doesn't stop you from following them, though.
You have an intense curiousity that you always have to follow. It's in your nature.
"I assume that we're going to find out what's along this path?" Kayata's voice comes from behind you.
You turn round to see that the bird's flown off your friend's arm. Kayata's torn a strip of material off of her top, and is busy wiping at the cuts from the bird's talons with it.
"Do you want me to heal those?" you ask, worried about your surviving friend.
"No, it's all right," Kayata responds. "You might need your powers for something much stronger. Besides, I don't want to rely on magic to heal wounds if my body can heal them naturally."
"All right," you reply, not going to argue with Kayata - but you do wish that there was some way you could help her.
Kayata finishes binding the cuts, and then looks at the bandages, biting her lip slightly. "I'd feel better if I could clean them," she comments. "If we get to a water source, I'll wash them. I'm not going to waste our drinking water on cuts like these."
You frown, looking worried, but before you can say anything else, Kayata looks up with a slight grin. "Don't worry," she tells you. "If it gets infected, I'll let you heal it."
"Whatever," you mutter. You start walking along the path, knowing that Kayata will follow you.
Just as you thought, the path eventually leads to a small town. There seems to be a commotion right in the centre - at the very least, there's a crowd gathered around a dark-haired man who's standing on a block.
What are you going to do?
