War of the Gods
You bite your lip slightly, considering what might be the best course of action. Would running away really be the best course of action? It's altogether possible that it would simply make things much worse - you'd probably end up having to fight them sooner or later, after all.
"I think that we should probably stand our ground," you tell Akaihane. "At least... I mean... Maybe it would be better to stand and face them?"
Akaihane nods slowly, apparently agreeing with you, and the two of you wait for the skinners to come into view.
Which doesn't take long.
Akaihane automatically moves to stand in front of you, his hand going towards his sword. As the skinners start towards the two of you, you feel some kind of power moving through the air.
Strangely enough, the skinners, upon seeing Akaihane's threat, hesiate a moment, and then simply turn and flee from him. You blink in mild surprise - somehow, you know that skinners are weak against fire, but...?
Apparently satisfied that the skinners are more or less gone, Akaihane turns to you. "We should probably get moving," he comments. "They could come back..."
You nod slowly, and the two of you move to walk between the trees, well out of the sight of the road. Neither of you speak - you, at least, are caught up in your own thoughts.
You walk for quite a way, but then begin to get quite tired. You did use up quite a lot of energy when you healed Akaihane, after all.
What are you going to do?
