You look at him innocently and answer, “Well sir I believe that a fire was a cause of those poor women’s untimely deaths.”
The man smiles. “Well you are quite an intelligent young man and so polite. I just can’t say no to you. I figured for sure a little lad like yourself would not know the answer to that question.’
He takes a ring of keys off of the wall near the door and leads you to the gate, removing some of the caution tape and unlocking it. He then looks at you and says, “Promise me you will be careful lad. You’re a smart boy and that’s the only reason I’m letting you in.”
You respond, “I will sir.”
“Good.” He says warmly. “And remember if you need anything, anything at all you just let me know and I’ll give you a hand. If you are ever in trouble just call out my name, it’s Rick. Remember that. Call out Rick and I will help you out.”
”Thank you sir.” You reply and with that the old man walks off and you enter the playground.
