Molly pulled back the blankets on her bed. She settled him into the covers like she would tuck in a small child, and even planted an impromptu kiss on his forehead. He was after all clothed now, so contact would be acceptable.
Goodnight. She said, and removed herself to the living room.
The first rays of the morning fell on Trevyns face, like the light of a thousand stars must have falling on the baby Jesus face, and he looked utterly innocent there drooling on her pillow. Slowly, Molly bent down so that she was on his level. She had to wake him up.
Trevyn, Molly began taking his hand in hers, knowing that he would respond well to physical contact. I know you arent used to living here, but, there are things that have to be done in this world, there are requirements, and obligations.
Trevyn opened his eyes and watched her lips move. She was ready for work, all dolled up so to speak. His hand moved to her mouth he touched her lips, and screamed aloud when his thumb came away red. He thought he had harmed her, and apparently he found the thought utterly appalling. This was a good thing for Molly to see, because it meant he would not harm her without a measure of remorse. Molly unconsciously touched her own lips. She explained the concept and showed him a stick of lip balm to calm him, while she covered the unpleasant side of the morning.
There are small things that everyone who lives here must do, and there are big things. The small things include getting dressed every day, like what you did last night. It means washing your hands after you use the commode. They are easy to do, and once they are finished, you usually will forget about them. Then there are bigger things we must do, things that take more time and more effort. Things that involve interactions with other people. These things are like going to work to earn money to pay bills. Or, doing something you promised someone you would do even though you dont like it, and dont want to do it. Do you understand?
Trevyn blinked at her. He did not understand. She knew it without him saying so. Molly blinked at him, and wondered how to reword things so that he would understand.
What Im trying to tell you is, theres something I have to do today. It will take me away from the house, and I wont be back for a long time Molly looked at him and watched him process the words. Now he looked like a puppy someone had left at the kennel for the first time. Molly wouldnt mind taking him with her to work, except that if she took him in his pajamas, she would never ever live it down. Or, I could- maybe, call in sick
For Molly, this would be a first. She had never called in sick except the time her stomach had revolted once every three minutes, and she didnt think that time should count. Molly brushed her hand over Trevyns face, and knew she couldnt leave him home alone. That left three choices:
