Molly woke up cold, she felt like someone had pressed her into a freezer. Opening her eyes, she blinked. She could see nothing save inky darkness. It absorbed all the air in her home, until she was left with nothing. Her heart beat erratically against her chest until it hurt. She was terrified, and she wasn’t sure why.

The electricity had gone out she told her self- that would explain the dark, and maybe the cold as well. Surely that’s what had happened it was logical. Molly heard something whisper past her head where it rested still on the sofa’s plush arm. She wasn’t alone.

The scream that was rising from the pit of her stomach never reached her lips. She cried out in her mind but no sound resonated beyond the sound of her skin tearing. It was a relatively quiet sound for all the pain it was causing. She screamed and screamed for what to her felt like hours as her insides were introduced to the outside world for the first time ever. Then, with a final haggard sigh, the breath left her body forever,- she died.
