Odalisque Paradise MA

Charles had never seen anything like the inside of that somber looking hovel. Finely dressed men were spread across settees and chairs, draped with the most scandalously clad women Charles had ever set eyes on. In his lifetime he had never so much as seen a woman’s ankle, much less seen a woman’s private regions.

“Charles!” the woman with the pleasingly large breasts distracted him from focusing on the other details in the room. She had snapped up her spyglass and was carefully examining the letter held between her slender fingers.

Charles paused long enough to ponder the fact that the woman who used the word gov’na might also be able to read. He didn’t remember having introduced himself either, so she must have acquired the name from the invitation. It was a curious thing, he had spent all his life on the outside looking in, and studying normal, and he knew at once that this was not normal. Under different circumstances, Charles would undoubtedly have noticed all the other things about the place that were not normal, and had he been wise enough, he would have run straight home to embrace his boring life. For the sake of argument we might say that it was the women that distracted him, but it would be remiss not to note that his own desire for adventure had moved his feet to the house of ill repute.

“You’re to be given the run of the place,” the woman said smiling as she lifted a quill from an inkwell at a desk he had not noticed before. “All you have to do, is sign right here.”

Charles accepted the quill, and made his mark on the parchment. The woman fluttered her lashes at him, and he could tell she was pleased. He wondered if Greaves had paid dearly for the right to wander the Odalisque. Like so many of his thoughts on this most interesting of nights, this too was squandered as another woman stepped into their midst at the behest of the one called Betsy. Around her neck hung a key, and it dangled temptingly between her breasts. Charles cleared his throat, and thought to himself that this night would be the one to make all the others fade… and he was right in more ways than he could know.
