"Why should God listen to me?" you think out loud. Regardless, you drop to your knees in the only fashion you've ever seen people depicted as praying, with your hands clasped and extended skyward (if you could SEE the sky, that is).

You pray, "God, if you're out there, please save me! I can find no other way out, God! PLEASE!!" Your face shows the pitiful longing of someone in true desperation.

Sensing nothing, you slowly stand and begin to despair. Suddenly, a blinding flash of light at the floor by your feet lightens the room at ten times the brilliance of a camera flash!

When your eyes recover, you look down at your feet and see a glowing white circle of light that goes out about a foot from your body all around. It begins advancing up your body, expanding and contracting to the shape of your body, which, for all you can tell, is disappearing beneath it.

Normally, this kind of thing would have you delirious with panic, but an unearthly sense of peace and calm pervades your entire body, all the way until the circle envelopes and passes over your head, at which point you shut your eyes...
